Siding is done, drywall done in a day or 2

Our siding got finished up yesterday. I am pretty happy with how it turned out. For any one who is wondering my installer Eric Davis (http://www.ericdavisconstruction.com/) used a ring shank nails and I would guess they were about 2 inches long to attach the siding.

Our drywall should finally be finished by tomorrow so we will be spending the weekend painting. Weather has been terrible so we have not been able to work on the stone because of the temperatures but hopefully we can finish that up next week.

The east side has siding and we have power

Just a quick update before we get battered by the coming spring snow storm... Eric Davis has made some great progress on the siding. The walk out side of the house is finished. They should have no problems finishing this up next week as long as the weather gets decent and I can finish up on the rock.

In other news we have power to the panel. The furnace should be hooked up tomorrow, though the temperature in the house stays around 50.

Soffit finished, mason work continues siding started and electric ditch

There is lots of things happening this week. Our James Hardie Hardieplank lap siding  was delivered on Monday and my siding guy, Eric Davis finished up the soffit on Tuesday and got started on the siding. It is turning out pretty good. This house is going to look a whole lot different in another week. The weather looks like it is going to be terrible for the next week (rain, sleet snow and we barely get out of the 30s). Work will slow down after today. With the cold temperatures I will not be able to do any more work on the stone wainscoting. I did manage to get some more of the ledge put up on the front porch last night so that is good. It will be next week before I get to work on it again with these temperatures.

My father in law got out the old backhoe and got the ditch dug for the electric line. The drywall guys were worried about the mud drying so hopefully we will have power by the end of the day today.

The dry wall guys are making progress on the walls.

The next project is to get paint picked out and get some primer and color up on the walls. If the weather warms up we will be back outside working on the stonework.

Drywall is hung, stone vaneer is started

The hangers finished up the drywall now we just have to wait for the finishers. The inside of our house is a dusty mess. Hopefully they will get done this week. They were worried about it not being warm enough but I think they play to bring some heat in.

We got started on the stone vaneer this weekend. We are using a drystack so it takes a while to piece all this together and that means we are behind schedule again.  The weather is well below average this week for this time of year and that makes doing mason work suck. Our night time lows are hovering around the freezing mark so I will cover our work with plastic. The siding and soffit guys started on Friday and they expect it to take about a week or so to finish up so we have to have this rapped up by next weekend.

Drywall progress

The drywall is nearly hung now. The finisher was going to start today or tomorrow. The end is near now.

In other news I got my hole at the bottom of the drive way dug. It was nearly 10ft deep when I quit digging. I didn't find any rocks which is extremely rare for this area. I burried most of the concrete after lunch on Saturday. I can fit more in the hole but we may use some of it for other projects. I finished up just as it started to rain. We got nearly 2 inches and my hole turned into a flooded mess.

The next project is to get the stone veneer installed on the front of the house. Unfortanatly it looks like half our weekend is going to be rained out. We ordered it from a company out of Springfield called Palisades Stone. They should be delivering it tomorrow.

Inspection passed, network wired and drywall delivered

Our ground has been pretty damp for the last couple weeks so it has pushed back the delivery of the sheet rock, but that gave us time to tie up all the loose ends. We finished getting great stuff in all the cracks around the windows and I ran Cat6 network cable to all the rooms in the upstairs and I ran some conduit in some of the areas ,like behind the TV and in the office and to run stuff between the attic and the basement.

The garage doors showed up yesterday but the garage door guy wanted some additional framing, it would have been nice if he had noticed that when he came out the first time I guess you get what you pay for with some of these guys... Hopefully we can get the framing finished up tonight in the dark so he can install them tomorrow.

The big news is that today the drywall is being dropped off. I am guessing that it will take 2-3 days to hang and 2-3 to mud.

I plan to take off on Friday this week to get some more dirt work done since we actually have a dry stretch. Rain is back in the forecast by Saturday night though. I plan to bury the majority of our massive pile of concrete under our drive way at the bottom. This will bring the level of the drive way up and generate some high quality black dirt for the garden. I am just not sure I can get it done in 2 days. If I can't we will have a big mud pit with no easy way to access the property.
